Episode 56: Getting Ready for the Las Vegas Open 2018
In this episode, we talk about our plans for attending the Warhammer 40K events at the Las Vegas Open. We discuss our expectations and why we will be attending. We also give tips on how to prepare a big event and what you should bring to maximize your success. Finally, we discuss the new ITC Champions missions and how to play them effectively.
Why attend a big 40K event?
What are your expectations for attending:
- Best painted/best general/best faction?
- Have a fun time? Meet other players?
- Get a lot of games in?
Getting an army together
Based on your expectations, you need to put together an army. At two weeks out, you should have settled on a list.
Painting standards for LVO and other large events.
Read the event description and format and missions.
Practicing with the army
Practice all the missions.
Practice against as many armies as you can.
Practice against the best players you can find.
Practice against different maps and against your weaknesses.
Things you should bring
Army, extra infantry models if you have them, all books, tape measure, dice, wound markers, objectives (40mm poker chip sized).
Super glue for spot fixes and repairs.
Missions and scoring sheets, pen, and copies of your army list, any cheat sheets needed.
Safe travel cases/foam to get your army there
Army tray to move between rounds.
Water/empty bottle/snacks.
