Episode 112: Planning and Finishing your Army
In this episode, we talk with Brian and Alex from the Splintermind podcast about planning and finishing your 40k army. We discuss what to consider as you plan out your army, including how it will look, its theme, and how it will work on the table. We share how we built our own armies, starting with detachments and growing to complete armies. Finally, we talk about avoiding distractions and the rewards of a completed army.

How many armies do we each have?
Planning an Army
What is the scope of your army? What do you want your collection to be?
Theme of the army? How do you want it to look?
Many of us have ideas for armies, we don’t always start them. The worst is to buy a bunch of models for an army you want and never get started.
The problems of building a “tournament” army when things keep changing.
Building an Army
Consider this; can you devote the time needed to start and finish at least a list to play? What will you not be painting during that time?
Focus on a detachment, then move to a complete army.
Building, painting, and finishing units: how do you keep from being distracted?
Many of us have half completed armies sitting in boxes or on shelves..
The Rewards of a Finished Army
Once you have an army, at least the start or core of an army, its a lot easier to add to it over time.
You can always come back to it, just keep your painting recipes!
